Ah! I see what happened. Zero is a single child in this AU and now he's an orphan so having someone ask him to keep an eye on their family would mean a lot to him. He wouldn't show it but it means something to him. The whole "taking care of his younger bro" Zero just takes it seriously even if he doesn't show it and by taking care of him he means it how I explained it above.
