WELCOME & AU PLANNING - MAY 2017

WELCOME TO THE FIRST PLANNING POST!

Congratulations on being accepted into the game. Now let's have a big meeting post, plan and have fun together!

AU PLANNING
The AU in this game is completely player's choice. We encourage you to take a look at the city and plan accordingly! Your AU information can be added to your character hub, should you desire. As long as it is available somewhere, and others can take a quick glance and know what the character's AU is.

We only ask that you try to keep everything tasteful and respect our decision if we feel you're going too far. As the game begins, you are free to continue using this post to plan or ask the mods first-post related questions. We'll do our best to answer in a timely manner!

The city of Eddan is very much a typical metropolis, so your characters can have any job that would make sense in a busy city. They don't have to be restricted to the school, or have a school job. If you're not sure, don't be shy about asking. There's a lot of freedom!

Roll the dice
There is also a randomized AU signup if you'd like to leave it to chance who your family members are and establish pre-game CR with new people. But if you'd rather leave it for now and wait for other app turns, that's also fine!

GAME START
The first log will be posted on MAY 13TH. Please vote on what time you want it to be posted. We'll go with player majority! (As a note, this will be done for all rounds).

Clubs, Businesses, and Volunteer Work

[personal profile] beastfang 2017-05-13 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Like the tin says. Since a lot of the students are in clubs, some people own or work for a business, or is that guy always doing charity work. I figured having a place to hash out such things could be helpful.

Tell us about your clubs, or your business and if you're looking for any part timers to work there, or maybe find some volunteer buddies to go clean up parks or visit the elderly.

Dojo

[personal profile] transient_specter 2017-05-13 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Makoto Gen works at a dojo, where he also trains. He probably teaches some of the younger classes while he works on getting even higher levels of belts. idk what style he would be doing, technically, but yeah.

Who else works/trains there?

+1 student
superstylishsquid: (Would you look at that.)

That guy always doing volunteer work

[personal profile] superstylishsquid 2017-05-13 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Xane spends...probably more time doing volunteer work than he really should while still in college, but he can't help that he's a sucker for a sob story. He especially tends to do work for/with children, so he's probably met other people with a soft spot for kids in need. And, you know, kids who need someone to give them a hand.

Gardening Club

[personal profile] onlythankyou 2017-05-13 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)

how big is our garden

are there red spider lilies

are there nemophila
probablynoteren: gg (there's like 2 smile icons)

[personal profile] probablynoteren 2017-05-13 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yessss let gardening club slowly twine its vines around your ankles, we're here (quietly, ominously). :D :DD

Lenka here is an officer but mostly he's just around a lot in the background up to his elbows in dirt and people don't notice he actually does paperwork sometimes. I know Chikusa is also ninjaing around the club sometimes, and Minako's our cute resident exchange student! Always welcoming members or gatecrashers. ☆

I also figure there are NPC members hanging around from Jun's fanclub, so those y'all can do with as you please. :3c

In terms of what they actually do, I figure the school has greenhouses where they grow fruit and veggies and ornamental flowers to fundraise for [insert lovers' festival name here] (eventually we'll figure out a name for this, modship said they'll post a holiday suggestion list later). From the TDM I also surmised that there's, say, orchards or other little plots in the campus(es) that they can take care of depending on where they're at. The greenhouses for example could be the main thing/centrally located, but different grade levels within the club might have their own corner of whatever campus they're on to beautify or whatever they're doing with it. Teaches students moral fiber and creativity or something. /handwaves I'm kind of making it up as I go along

Feel free to suggest other events or activities they could be doing, of course. :D

IDEAS and stuff

[personal profile] kokuyoyo 2017-05-20 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
So last night, for those not aware of it, I did a big ol' plurk filled with pretty pictures of greenery to try and think of ideas. Here are a few of mine:

- The Paths - Lovely almost tunnel-like paths (from a combination of the earth and trees over it) that is somewhere on the grounds. Upkeep is delegated to younger club members who don't have as much on their plate as those in older years, or members who mess up and this is their punishment.

- Sunflower house - SUNFLOWER HOUSES. Make a whole town of them. Probably part of some event? Sunflower mazes, little sunflower houses to play around in... Smooch your date in one of these bad boys, a+ plan

- Tree of 40 Fruit - "After sculptor Sam Van Aken bought a failing orchard in upstate New York full of hundreds of different fruit trees, he began the pain-staking process of grafting several of the different varieties together into one tree. Six years later, the result is this 40-fruit bearing tree, which includes some heirloom varieties that are centuries old." i'm not saying the GVGC needs one but they totally need one. Every generation of the club works on establishing one on the grounds? There is probably a whole orchard of these things.

- Circus Tree - ALTERNATIVELY, THIS, which is the product of six individual sycamore trees shaped, bent, and braided together like so.

- Upside Down Tree - Did you know that you can flip a tree upside down and its roots will become branches, and vice versa, instead of dying? Now you know.

- Club Bonsai - Every new member gets their own little bonsai tree to grow as celebration of them joining the club. There's like six different varieties in the plurk, so just, go wild.

- Will It Grow? - "Hey GVGC, can you grow plants on a bed? What about a musical instrument? Dining Table?" They have a challenge box open. Possibly working together with the art club?

- Good Luck Tree - you know those posts that go around of people having a "lucky statue" on their campus, and, around exam time, they just leave all sorts of shit around it, from coins to food to the WEIRDEST SHIT? This is Green Valley's, but it's a tree. Leave an offering for the tree god. (It's the GVGC's duty to make sure no one seriously fucks with it. Desperate students are horrifying.)

- Annual Wall Garden - There's a part of the school that is fully for the GVGC to plot out a vertical garden on its wall. Throughout the year, the GVGC both help put together the display, and come up with the layout for next year's garden.

- GVGC Food Challenge - Every couple of months, the club has a challenge for its members (or those in the cooking club too) to make a recipe entirely out of whatever is in season/the greenhouse has in stock. They then sell it, and whatever person/group/whatever sells the most of their product wins some sort of prize.

i swear to god i had more ideas, including section leaders, but I can't remember what those sections were for SO HERE U GO

Kira's in the Lit club and Kendo club in the Senior Cycle. He also does volunteer work for with troubled youths ala Big Brothers Big Sisters just with younger participants.

Photo Studio

[personal profile] summerorange 2017-05-14 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Niko works (and lives at) her family's photo studio, which is aptly named the Fuyo Photography Studio. It's a place that takes, makes, and sells photos to folks - all in one building. It's a family-owned business, run by her parents, and it's where Niko can be found when she's not running around the city doing her own things.

The studio's been around for a couple of generations, and they do family-friendly photography, such as school photos, wedding announcement shots, and so forth. Need a school picture but missed the free photo day? Or are you wanting the thrill of getting your picture taken the "old-fashioned way"? They're the place to go.

Pawn Shop

[personal profile] truthkills 2017-05-14 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
So Kiriya, who's going by Kiran here, owns a pawn shop called Lazer's Pawn. He won it in a game of cards off a guy he is pretty sure was on American Gladiators is one point, hence the name. The store hasn't really been updated since the 80's and is pretty run down, but hey, the stupid name in neon has its own sort of charm, right? Surely this is an excellent place to work and do business because Kiran is super respectable and stuff.

He's totally running stolen merchandise through there.

The Blue French Horn - Cafe

[personal profile] sociallyarcward 2017-05-14 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Cajun/Creole/New Orleans-style restaurant.
Looking for possible employees, owned by Mrs. Miles (mother to Jaune and Hotaru -- they work there too part time).
Serves things like beignets, po'boys, jambalaya, red beans and rice, gumbo, etc.
Allows for musicians to play -- they have a small stage, though if there isn't live music expect jazz or blues.
Famous for its blue french horn over the stage -- sometimes referred to as "The Blues Cafe" by locals as shorthand

Louis has probably shown up there at least once. Hopefully it's not too embarrassing for Juane to see his teacher there.

soccer club

[personal profile] forsteri 2017-05-14 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
idk if any PCs are actually IN the soccer club yet, but the inazuma kids will be looking for it. there's definitely a team for at least the lower cycle kids, but i wouldn't be surprised if each cycle had its own branch. feel free to expand if you have ideas!!

[personal profile] onlythankyou 2017-05-15 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
LonĂ¡n (AU Jun) is like...a soccer star pre-Awakening, so there's. One! He's in the higher cycle but might still play for the senior cycle, he skipped a year or two.

Team needs a name. Who do they play? Maybe there's another school in Eddan that's the big sports rival?

Library

[personal profile] tragedyinabottle 2017-05-15 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
Sayo works at a perfectly normal library as a desk worker, and rarely talks except if you are as much a fan of mystery and detective fiction as she is.
